Cheryl at the Anchor bar surprised me with a piece of Cheesecake, but that's not even why it was the best day ever, people. Thanks, Cheryl.
NOT EVEN THE FACT THAT SISTER NOBLE AND I SANG OUR SCRIPTURE MASTERY SONG PERFECTLY made it the best day ever. Ever though that was pretty... good.
It actually started out feeling like someone was squeezing all of my insides. The only thing I can compare it to is maybe how Megora in Hercules felt as she was being sucked down the green death hole. Not fun, and definitely not pretty. Especially for the old Megs.
Yesterday was the day of our Final Chalk Event. We chalk hard.
Let's re-re-rewind to last week. We picked a day. Friday. 11:00AM. Downtown Buffalo. Free Hot Chocolate.
Perfect, right?
Well, we thought wrong.
Little problems started popping up.
THE RAIN. We received the sad news that the forecast was rain. But every time we thought or prayed about Friday, we felt peace. It felt right! So, no problem, we'll keep it on Friday and see what happens.
MILES. We are allotted a certain amount of miles. We were offered a ride, but Friday wouldn't work for them. So, it kind of seemed foolish to keep it on Friday.
We had already told the whole ward and Facebook it would be on Friday.
How many times can I say the word "Friday"
Anyways.
The NIGHT before (after being a tid bit stressed about the weather all week aka after EVERYONE in the NY stressed us out about the weather all week) we found out that the winds would be 60 mph. THAT IS SIXTY, I SAY SIXTY, miles per hour winds. There was a weather advisory out, saying not to go outside.
Hot Chocolate was a big deal, because without it, let's be honest, hardly anyone naturally wants to talk to missionaries. Well, the kindest Elder who helped so much in getting the water containers, couldn't come anymore. NO HOT CHOCOLATE.
The tent fell through. NO TENT. NO BANNER. So unprofessional.
SHOULD WE CANCEL. SHOULD WE MOVE IT TO THE ONLY SUNNY DAY NEXT WEEK? OH, WE CAN'T BECAUSE THE OTHER MISSIONARIES HAD A MEETING. SHOULD WE POSTPONE IT AND WAIT? WERE WE BEING STUBBORN OR DID WE ACTUALLY FEEL PEACE EACH TIME WE TALKED ABOUT IT BEING ON FRIDAY. WERE WE CRAZY.
As you can see, we had little headaches. Having it yesterday literally made 0 logical sense. It seemed like no one would even be outside, and we had ONE SHOT at doing the chalk event. ONE SHOT.
All of the odds were against us.
Friday morning. Very windy. Gloomy. I literally stared at Ether 12:6 all morning.
"I would show unto the world that Faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your Faith."
(I am not saying make irrational decisions and call it Faith. Study it out in your mind. And then pray. We would not have continued UNLESS we felt that it was right)
Literally, it made no sense, but we felt it was right.
We thought of the scripture Alma 26:27 (it's also in our scripture rap "Alma 26:27 Strength from Heaven. What? strength from Heaven, yea.")
"Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, the Lord comforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren the Lamanites, and bear with patience thine afflictions, and I will give unto you success."
"Do you have a car? If so, would you be able to take the FIVE GALLONS of Hot water for the hot chocolate?"
NO ONE even told them to do that or even get a container.
HOT CHOCOLATE. SOLVED. PEOPLE WOULD TALK TO US.
We found out that the time between 11 and 4 (THE EXACT TIME OF OUR EVENT) there would be no rain and the wind would go down to 30 mph.
That's not all of the Miracles. They came down like Monsoon Rain.
As we were driving to the event, the wind was double up fierce. We drove on.
We met the Elders at their chapel, and as soon as we got out of the car and waited in front of the empty, locked church, a man walked up. He said that he had come to this church, because he met some Mormons and wanted to learn more. No one else was there, besides us and if it wasn't on Friday, no one would have been there.
We talked to MORE people, received MORE referrals, than any Chalk event before, even both combined.
People that were seriously so prepared came out of no where.
Read Sister Noble's blog about all these miracles, because I was busy drawing BUT HEY THEY SERIOUSLY HAPPENED and our minds were blown.
Lessons Learned?
-Don't buy $7 onion rings.
-Elder Lee is really fast at chasing Styrofoam cups (I'M SORRY THEY AREN'T BIO DEGRADABLE I'M NOT MADE OF MONEY)
-When you decide to be happy, even if the wind it blowing and it's cold, YOU WILL BE HAPPY. Attitude is everything.
-A big fear for anyone is talking to everyone, but like my Companion, you can conquer any fear and ROCK IT and INVITE miracles to happen. She knew who she stood with, and she literally talked to everyone.
-Even when all of the odds are against you, trust in God. He is bound when we do what He says. He will help you and you will marvel at how much He actually knows us and how much He cares. Stand back, and watch His hand give you success.

This is so awesome, Sister Tran! Love your writing style too. Thanks for sharing how faith precedes miracles.
